Introducing the 2018 Porsche 911

For more than 50 years, the Porsche 911 has redefined the conventional sports car recipe. With its rear-engine, rear-wheel drive layout, there aren't many cars like it, and there aren't many cars that can match it either.

The Carrera and Carrera S models receive the latest in Porsche innovation, the standard-setting Turbo and Turbo S models have more power than ever. The new generation, known internally as the 991, is faster, lighter, and better than ever before.

Perhaps that is why the new 911 received the prestigious red dot award for product design after being unveiled in 2012. This latest evolution represents the latest award-winning interpretation on the timeless sports car shape. Innovation is not just cosmetic.

The new 911 comes with a new engine line including the 3.4-liter boxer found in the Carrera which represents a five horsepower increase over the outgoing 3.6-liter engine in Carrera models. The 3.4-liter engine produces 350 hp and 287 lb-ft. of torque while acheiving increased fuel economy compared to the 3.6-liter. Paired with the optional Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission, it will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. There is nothing ordinary about the manual transmission either; the 7-speed layout is brand new and unique to the 991, with a built in shift-lockout so 7th gear is only accessible from 5th and 6th so as to prevent any accidental shifts.

The 3.8-liter boxer engine in Carrera S models now produces 400 hp, 15 horsepower more than the outgoing generation, and 325 lb-ft. of torque. A Carrera S with the PDK will reach 60 mph in 4.1 seconds and deliver a top track speed of 187 mph.

It's all about the driver on the inside. Adjustable suspension settings, dual-zone air conditioning, and the intuitive Porsche Communication Management (PCM) let you make the changes you need without distracting you from the road ahead, especially with the available voice control system for PCM.

An alcantara roof liner and leather steering wheel rim, door pulls, and armrests remind you that this isn't any ordinary sports car, it represents the pinnacle of Porsche's engineering and development of their rear-engined sportscar.

Optional Power steering Plus enhances low-speed handling for easier parking and offers dynamic and assured steering feel at high speeds. Sharpen engine and transmission response with the standard SPORT button, or opt for the Sport Chrono Package, featuring dynamic engine mounts, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), and optional Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) to sharpen handling performance.
